 Tip of the Month

October 2026

As we all deal with staying healthy, please notify me to make special arrangements if you are feeling ill whether from COVID, measles, flu, RSV or cold. I travel quite a bit for my business and need to take precautions for all the people and pets I see.

Be Well.

Practice patience, tolerance, empathy and provide support to others as we go about our daily lives!

Recent Public Health Alert in Park County: A bat submitted for rabies testing tested positive. A few rapid bats are found every summer in most counties in our area. Despite what some people will tell you, there are bats in Bailey, along with ticks, the occasional flea and mosquito. This notification is a good reminder to not pick up bats that can't fly or are acting strangely and to keep your pets current on their rabies vaccinations. Bites from a bat are very hard to see on a pet with fur. Outdoor cats are also at higher risk of exposure since affected bats are often close to the ground and their movement tends to arouse a cat's curiosity.

The holidays are creeping up fast! Remember to keep tasty food items such as chocolate or raisins, uncooked bread dough as well as any product containing xylitol out of your pet's reach! Nobody enjoys having to rush to the ER clinic on a weekend or late night during the week.

Are you boarding your pet while you visit family or friends? Make sure to find out ahead of time what vaccines are needed. More facilities are starting to require the influenza and leptospirosis vaccines in addition to the kennel cough (Bordetella) vaccine. These vaccines are not necessarily done on every pet as part of the routine vaccinations. Unfamiliar with dog flu? See my blog for more information.
